Stars of architecture in Vienna

Stars of architecture in Vienna

From architectural projects such as Hundertwasser's colorful houses and the new buildings of Zaha Hadid, Vienna has changed its face thanks to the efforts of the world's most famous architects.

Vienna's modernity even appears in its historic square, which has a glass building that reflects the Gothic façade of Saint Stephan's Cathedral, which has become a symbol of contemporary architecture. There is also a building with a futuristic façade, Hass-Haus by architect Hans Hollein, winner of the Pritzker Prize for architecture and the architect of the exterior design of the Albertina Museum. Hollein, originally from Vienna, is not the only architectural star who has contributed to the redesign of the Austrian capital. Other internationally renowned architects have designed the city's buildings from its center to its suburbs.

This architectural movement began in the 1980s when Friedensreich Hundertwasser painted the city with its surreal and smooth structures such as the Hundertwasserhaus, a popular residential district in Vienna, Kunst Haus Wien and the Spittelau burner.

In the 1990s, Jean Nouvel repaired the four gas-measuring devices and gave it a great look at Simmering and the skyscraper of the Sofitel on the Danube. Massimiliano Fuksas designed the Twin Towers in Vienna. " And Zaha Hadid planned its first building in Vienna near the vaults in the Spittelau underground station.

In 2013 Dominique Perrault completed the construction of the DC Tower, the tallest building in Austria. In the same year, the opening of the new campus of the Vienna School of Economics, with 25,000 students, was cut and became the new architectural symbol of the city. Especially the library building designed by Zaha Hadid.

The finest restaurants

Let's start from the ninth-place restaurant on the list of the top 50 restaurants in the world, which also has two Michelin stars. It's the Steirereck restaurant for Chef Heinz Reitbauer. The restaurant serves Austrian cuisine and is located in a square glass building designed by the Ppag Architects in Vienna.
